SILVERADO QUARTET placed second in the "adult" category of the Deschutes County Fair Talent Contest on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, winning one of the four $150 prizes!  Under links to the right, I've posted a youtube video of our performance of "Mr. Schwanman," a parody of "Mr. Sandman," new lyrics written by Hope Bridges, our lead.  Enjoy!

Here is Silverado Quartet performing intermission entertainment at the Prineville Follies last weekend.  We sang our Mr. Schwanman parody, written by our lead, Hope Bridges, on stage both nights.  Our next performance will be at the Tower Theater in Bend, Saturday, March 9th.  We hope to see a lot of you in the audience!  We'll be performing a variation of Love Potion Number 9!

Silverado Quartet will be singing at the Prineville Follies this weekend, March 1 and 2, at the Prineville High School.  The show starts at 7 p.m. with a silent auction starting at 6 p.m.  We hope to see a lot of you there!

We're also competing in Central Oregon's Got Talent, in Bend at the Tower Theater on March 9.  We hope you'll be there to vote for us!

Here is a bio update:

Silverado Quartet is a Sweet Adelines registered quartet. We sing a cappella barbershop style harmony with a varied repertoire.  We especially enjoy singing humorous numbers, often re-worded by our Lead, Hope Bridges.

We also sing the National Anthem in an original arrangement by our former baritone and have opened the Elks games, horse shows, and patriotic events around Central Oregon. 

We entertain for private parties, fundraisers, the Deschutes County Fair, and other events in our area. 

We'll be contestants again this year in Central Oregon's Got Talent in Bend at the Tower Theater on March 9th.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY everyone!  Come see and hear Silverado Quartet sing   Valentine's night at Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant in Bend.  After a day of singing all around Central Oregon, we start singing at Carino's at 5:45 and will be doing extended performances all over the restaurant until about 8:30 p.m.  We hope to see a lot of you there!

Congratulations to Touche Quartet for their first place win!  We're especially proud of them because Kim is from our region, and Silverado has had the privilege of her coaching.  What a fabulous quartet with an incredible bass!

Congratulations to Pride of Portland, also, for their eighth place in the world ranking!  Moving up - we can't wait to watch them the next time they compete!

We had a great day today, singing first for the Republican fundraiser in Prineville, then three sets at the Bowman Museum.  This picture, taken at the Bowman today, is a little fuzzy but it shows our new Pashminas.

Come hear Silverado Quartet sing this Saturday, October 6, in Prineville, OR, at the open house for the Bowman Museum expansion. We'll be singing from about noon to 3, several times depending on the crowd.

Silverado is doing two shows at the Deschutes County Fair this Thursday, August 2, on the food court state at 5 and 8 p.m.  We hope to see a lot of familiar faces in the crowd!  Here is a picture of us taken recently singing on street corners at the Sisters Quilt Show.

UPdate! We ordered a DVD of our performance in Central Oregon's Got Talent, and were told that according to the judges' scorecards, we actually came in FIRST in the top five!  WE WON, according to the judges!  Halleluia!

WAY TO GO SILVERADO!

Saturday night in Bend at the Tower Theater, we competed in Central Oregon's Got Talent and made the TOP FIVE!  We were the ONLY senior act in the whole show, and our lead, Hope Bridges, announced us as "youthful seniors" with a combined age of 258. We sang a parody on "Mr. Sandman" that Hope wrote, called "Mr. Schwanman" (Bring Me Icecream.)  The audience was screaming so loudly we could barely hear ourselves!  Hope made stuffed icecream cones for all of us in different flavors, and foil Eskimo Pie bars as well. Hopefully we'll have a sound clip on here soon!

Changes! Bad news and good news....

Silverado is announcing a personnel change.  First the bad news:

Our former baritone, Janice Wheeler, has changed her part to bass with her chorus, the Pride of Portland, and she has decided not to try to continue to sing baritone with Silverado. Although we are sad to lose our favorite resident arranger, we wish her the very best and hope that she will stay in touch, continue to arrange fun songs we can buy, and will sell us back some of her accumulated costume pieces, because -

We are pleased to introduce our new baritone, Sharon Leutschaft, a long time member of the Central Oregon Showcase Chorus, as is our bass, Debi Fooks.

Sharon has rehearsed with us twice and we like the fit, both tonally and her personality.  She is very game, and our next endeavor is an audition (next week!) for the Prineville Follies, after which we'll be working on building our repertoire, first adding songs already familiar to Sharon.

Our very best wishes go with Janice, and we welcome Sharon to the new Silverado!

WHAT AN HONOR!

Silverado is proud to announce that at the recent Pride of Portland (POP) Chorus Installation and Awards Banquet, our baritone, Janice Wheeler, was chosen by the POP Master Director, Ryan Heller, to be the recipient of the Director's Award for 2010.  The Award is in recognition of her ongoing work as Music Assistant to the POP Director and Chorus.  

Janice is currently the only member of Silverado who also sings in a chorus, and she chose the top chorus in the region, rated number nine internationally.  She gets to hold her award, engraved with her name, (which we all saw tonight at quartet rehearsal) until next year's recipient is chosen.  What an honor!!

Competition update

Competition in Spokane is over, and Ryan Heller-Highwater said to us after hugs all around, "Well, you're not virgins anymore!"  While the experience was fun, it wasn't exactly what we had yearned for; we think we'll get better if we work on it.  ;-)

We're here!

 Introducing: SILVERADO QUARTET, a Sweet Adelines International quartet that has been singing together for about two and half years.  We're getting ready for our first competition experience in Spokane, WA, in May.  A HUGE "thankyou!" to everyone who has helped us get this far!

We sing barbershop style a cappella harmony, with a varied repertoire including humorous novelty numbers, old favorites, and THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER, in an original arrangement by our baritone.  We are available to open events in the Central Oregon area, and for fundraisers, private parties, fairs, etc.  We have reasonable rates and can fill half hour or 45 minute time slots.
